A Christmas Tale from Cardinham Woods

“Snuggled up warm in their nests, the dormice and the hedgehogs dream away the winter months, while the bats dangle in tree tops, twitching their ears in their sleep. But not all is as quiet as it seems…”

The creatures of Cardinham Woods get an unexpected surprise one snowy night, when a strange new visitor walks out of the trees and asks for their help to save ‘the most important night of the year’.

Written by Eira Morgan-Jones, this joyful book gives you all the Cornish magic of the original Tales From Cardinham Woods, but with lashings of festive spirit to boot. It’s chock full of friendship, kindness and Christmas miracles.

Ella and the Beast

“Beast lived in a dark and lonely cave, high up on a windy patch of the moor where no one ever went. He spent his days sharpening his claws and glaring down across the land. If ever a creature dared to come near, he would growl his great growl and lash his long tail, until they scampered back down the hill. “This is my cave,” he howled. “And beasts live alone.”

Ella is a happy and eternally optimistic pink squirrel. After being thrown out of her squirrel gang for being 'too pink' she finds herself alone on Bodmin Moor.

One day she meets the Beast, a moody, irritable and grumpy animal. He too lives alone on the moors, where he is proud to be feared by the other moorland animals – until he meets Ella that is. Try as he might to put her off, Ella is determined to be his friend.
